Headaches are one of the most common types of chronic pain. These include migraines, tension headaches, sinus headaches and cluster headaches. While a headache can be a symptom of chronic pain disorders, such as fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis, it also tops the list of chronic pain as its own disorder.

The worst headache I ever had happened when I was in college, and it was a muscle tension headache. It lasted for over a week, and did not respond to anything. I took long, hot baths. I took my maximum allotment of prescription headache meds. I stayed home from several of my classes. I could barely tolerate the sounds of my roommates moving quietly around the house. And then? It just went away. When I returned to class, several of my colleagues were shocked that I would stay home because of a headache. If they only knew!

I would love to hear from you: Tell me about the worst headache you have ever had. Did your family and friends understand its intensity?
